MARY KATE is a Philadelphia native with over 20 years of experience in handling complex health care and medical malpractice litigation, and is a partner at Post & Post LLC. She has successfully represented health care providers from the beginning of litigation through verdict at trial, including physicians, physician assistants, behavioral health providers, physical therapists, nurse practitioners, health care practice groups, health care facilities and health care systems in courts across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Mary Kate has been published and has lectured extensively both locally and nationally on many topics, including telehealth, HIPAA / privacy law and trends in medical malpractice litigation. She was identified as a Philadelphia Super Lawyers Rising Star from 2010 through 2013.
She received her Bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University. She began law school at Villanova University School of Law, but transferred to Brooklyn Law School to complete her degree when she was cast in a Broadway show during law school. Mary Kate continued to work as a professional actor in theaters across the country, including Broadway, a Broadway National Tour, and in regional theaters. Mary Kate received Barrymore Award nominations for roles performed at the Arden Theater Company and the Walnut Street Theater.
She has been active with community service, volunteering as a pro bono child advocate. Mary Kate is a proud member of the “Mom Choir” at Saint Joseph’s Preparatory School, and has served with her son as a cantor for Our Mother of Consolation Parish in Philadelphia’s Chestnut Hill neighborhood, where she has also taught Sunday Story. She was the Chair of the Steering Committee for the First Annual Harry Potter Weekend in Chestnut Hill. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, she and her family presented a weekly Disney-themed Zoom sing-along on Sunday evenings with Kids-to-Kids. Mary Kate is currently the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for Commonwealth Youthchoirs.
